Mobile Communications - TCL and Alcatel Look to Brazilian Market
May 28, 2004
TCL and Alcatel have been working together to seek out opportunities to penetrate the Brazilian mobile phone market. The companies are considering producing handsets locally in one of two ways: either establishing a new plant or outsourcing to a Brazilian maker. Although Alcatel runs a production plant in Mexico, the vendor has yet to set foot in Brazil's retail market. Alcatel also plans to sell mobile communication infrastructure equipment in the country, such as base stations.
